A 3 Part Sermon Series
The authority of the Word of God is being openly challenged today, even from within the Church. Though this has been true in nearly every generation, it is possible to have confidence and boldness in the timeless, eternal, and flawless character of Scripture. In this message, Eric Ludy explains the Canon Test (which God gave Moses to prove the authority of His Word) and shows how this “canon” was used throughout Scripture and is now applied in our lives. The climatic reality is that Jesus Christ has fulfilled the Canon Test and has the divine right to rule and control our lives. This sermon will leave you awestruck as you listen to how Jesus fulfilled the Old Testament in perfection.

The Emergent Church has proposed the outrageous notion that God's Word is evolving and each subsequent generation is responsible for interpreting God's Truth for their time. But the Word of God itself is in complete opposition to such a notion of a "changing" God and a "relative"Truth. Our God is the same yesterday, today, and forever—in Him is no variation nor shadow of turning. Our God is revealed as a rock, and He is immovable. His nature is perfectly consistent from generation to generation. His Truth is unalterable. His Gospel doesn't adapt. His promises don't go away. We can be assured that the same God that divinely crafted the Bible is the same God in our midst today and revealing to us the Scripture’s immutable meaning. Praise God for this fact!

This is a power-packed enunciation of a real, living, breathing Christianity.
It's a literal symphony of Truth that awakens you to the extraordinary
supernatural dimensions of Scripture and to the thrilling notion that all
Scripture aims towards one thing ... Jesus. If Ellerslie's purpose statement,
mission statement, and statement of belief were to all coalesce into a
single thunderous sermon, this just might be the sermon.

Throughout Scripture we see that there is a pattern passed down through righteous men that they are expected to build and live according to. But what is the pattern, and does it have anything to do with us? This message is about becoming eyewitnesses of the pattern—the righteousness of Christ—and living in accordance with what we have seen. Let us be faithful to build our lives in light of the Example laid out before us!

When the saints of God approach the Scriptures, how do they view it? How should they handle it? Is it something to be pitied and helped along? Is it something to merely befriend, laugh alongside, and throw the frisbee with? Or is it something to bend before, show deference to, and heed with holy reverence? How we approach the Scriptures defines what we will get out of the Scriptures. Until Scripture becomes the absolute authority in our life, the life that is only revealed in Scripture will not be found in us. Oh, how the Church needs holy trembling to return.

Everything in the Christian faith hinges on the validity and trustworthiness of the Bible. This amazing supernatural book is certainly worthy of our confidences, but there are few today in the Church an have an intelligent answer for why.

Faith is the linchpin that holds the entire construct of Christianity together. Without it the Christian life is completely non-functional. But if faith is understood, grasped, and realized, everything begins to fit back into place. Suddenly the Christian life once again has power. Suddenly the Bible begins to live and breath for the believer. And suddenly all Hell goes on red alert. Get faith right and all Hell's best laid plans and conspiracies go south. If your faith is a bit wobbly at the moment, this message is a sure elixir.

This last week was an extraordinary one on the Ellerslie campus. God's presence was sweet and intimately near, but also deeply soul-searching and convicting. It was an entire week on our faces, beholding the holiness and yet also the amazing grace of our Beloved. Amidst this campus- wide revival, the enemy attempted with great energy and ammunition to counter the forward steps of the saints. This led to a showdown, a classic gunslinging shootout between the best lies of Hell and the best Truths of Heaven. This message is an introduction to the facts that never fail, the Word that never returns void, and the Truth that truly does make the Christian free. Because in such a showdown—the Cross of Christ always proves victorious.

It’s difficult to navigate the modern minefields of doctrinal dispute. It would seem that there are a thousand opinions on every point and few that ever actually agree on these doctrinal points within the Church. However, this doctrinal contention and chaos is not the work of the Spirit of God, but the work of the author of confusion himself, Satan. The Devil is always laboring to beguile the saints of God and woo them away from the simplicity that is in Christ. And when the Church walks in this Spirit-simplicity, with the humility and faith of a little child, all its countless debates are solved in the person and work of Jesus Christ. This is a message you will not want to miss!

WARNING: This message pulls no punches. It speaks straightforwardly on a topic that most of us would rather avoid—and that is wolves in sheep's clothing in the modern church. There are wolves in the sheep pen of modern Christianity undermining the timeless, eternal truths of Scripture and thus altering the nature and the pattern of the Gospel. But these wolves don't look like wolves; they are wearing very convincing sheep costumes. They appear to be humble and wise men, with spectacles roosted on the ends of their noses. They appear to be cordial men, kind and thoughtful. It's their fruit that exposes them. For they have one singular question that they are asking the body of Christ today: "Did God really say that? Are you certain? Could it be that you have it wrong?" They are proffering the notion of an "open mind"—a mind more tolerant to new religious thought—a mind hospitable to ideas outside the pale of the Biblical framework. 6,000 years ago this was the tactic of the serpent in the garden, and it's still the serpent's primary tactic today.

If you are disturbed by the current "Truth-made-mushy" trends in Christianity but are having a difficult time putting your finger on what exactly is wrong, this message might prove a great help. In this message, Eric Ludy tackles one of the most elusive and subtle enemy agendas in our midst today—the manipulative use of art in the conveyance of Truth. With an entire section specifically devoted to quoting the key voices behind this crafty maneuver, this message will leave you both insulted on behalf of Christ and inspired for the Truth of Jesus Christ afresh.

Knowing and believing that Christ died for our sins and rose again is basic Christianity. But we so often glaze over the fact that the Cross was a mystery hidden for ages and generations, revealed to us only by His miraculous grace. Let us not lose our wonder, for our God is a revealer of mysteries, and we are exceedingly privileged to have eyes to see.

In a time when God's voice has been emptied of it's lion-like roar and neutered of its thunderous majesty, this message is deeply significant, making a case for both the kingly-authority of Scripture as well as for the return of old-fashioned preaching in our day and age. This message is also an interesting peek into the fascinating journey Eric Ludy has gone on in gaining the forceful voice he now wields. At the close of this message there is a unique video bonus that demonstrates the "boisterous evolution" of Eric's speaking voice over the past 17 years of ministry.

If Jesus was not the Son of God, would it change much about what we believe? The truth is, it would change everything. The divinity of Christ is under major attack in the emergent movement and often treated as an inconsequential detail. However, the entire Gospel unravels if we compromise on this point. This message reminds us of the significance of Christ being God and the power that it gives the Gospel. May the privilege of having Immanuel, “God with us,” never cease to inspire awe!

The Christian man or woman represents the greatest threat to Satan's agenda and thusly they are the brunt of his most cruel energies and most cunning stratagems. But we are not left without a defense. The book of Nehemiah showcases how this battle works. Those opposed to Nehemiah were determined to stop the building of the walls of Jerusalem, and in their opposition, they attempted to cajole Nehemiah with nine distinct lies. These lies are the very same ones used against you and me today. First, we must recognize them as lies, and then we must learn how to respond to each of them with the Word of God as our primary weapon.

You thought genealogies were boring? Well, not after this message, you won’t! Throughout world history, the Hebrews have stood unmatched in their maintenance of genealogies, lineage, and descent. God promised them that from their bloodline would come One who would rescue the world from sin. This "Deliverer" would be of the seed of the woman, born of a virgin, born in Bethlehem, and would be from of everlasting. Well, this "Deliverer" has come. And just as promised, He was born of a virgin girl in Bethlehem, and He was no mere man. He was God born in the body of a man. Buckle your seat belt for this one!

God has promised, but is He trustworthy to back up His promises? Many today, even within the realm of Christianity, question whether He is. But as it proclaims in Numbers 23:19, “God is not a man that he should lie, neither the son of man that he should repent. Hath he said, and shall he not do it? Or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” The promises of God (which are replete throughout Scripture) are not merely given to us: we must come to them and obtain them. There is a Promised Land (also known as real Christianity) flowing with the milk and honey of God’s goodness, but it is only those who believe their God that will find it.

This is a message that is most appropriately listened to while on your face at the feet of your beloved Jesus. This is the eternal song of the redeemed. It's a song the world deems utter foolishness and extravagant waste. But to those of us that have beheld our almighty Lord and have had our lips touched with a burning coal from His altar, this is the song we are moved to sing—and even delighted to sing—no matter what this world may think.

A 3 Part Sermon Series
Jesus Christ is central, not only to our lives as Christians, but also to the
entirety of Scripture. He is found upon every page: the Old Testament
points toward Christ and His work upon the Cross, and the New Testament
shows forth His life with stunning clarity. This three-part message is a
literal symphony of Truth that awakens you to the extraordinary
supernatural dimensions of Scripture and the thrilling notion that all
Scripture aims towards one thing: Jesus. He is the North Star that we fix
our compass to. This message proudly and firmly enunciates the heart
and focus of Ellerslie.
