With the momentum of D-Day at their backs, who would have guessed that the next month would be so difficult and so taxing. Often, Christians are surprised by the enemy’s resistance and they underestimate his will to fight. The Allied perseverance through this slow-moving and harrowing slog in June and July of 1944 is an inspiring picture of the perseverance needed in our souls as Christians right here and right now.
