Spiritual Lessons from WW2
LISTEN TO THE SERIES BELOW!
World War II was an epic tale. And I am like a moth to the flame of any and all things epic. I have always been fascinated by history, the events, the people, and the human challenge. But, war history, for some reason, stands out to me and deeply attracts my soul — bidding me to study it and to somehow try and comprehend it.
When I was twenty-two I taught a class on the Civil War. After a long season of my young life spent in learning about America in the 1860s, I hadn’t thought about the Civil War for close to 25 years. That is, until I was freshly awakened to its intrigue when I began to walk my oldest son, Hudson, through the grand adventures of it in the Spring of 2017. And If you look back at my sermon archives (April 16-30, 2017) you will notice that I actually drew three powerful and unique sermons out of this well of rekindled fancy (The Power of the Peanut; Wilmer McLean’s Living Room, and The End of John Brown).
In 2018, this renewed war intrigue led to an in-depth study of WWI and WWII. Over these past couple years I have been surprisingly impacted through this study of war, and this series, “Spiritual Lessons from WW2” is the obvious fruition of that impact.
If you asked me, “Eric, why are you so interested in all this war stuff?” I would say, “Listen to this series and you will find out.”
When I study war, I understand how to live more robustly as a Godly man.
If you listen to these lessons, I think you will find that war really is an amazing tutor for powerful Christian living.
Here’s to going after the epic,
Eric
