Depraved Indifference
To do nothing is not an option.

How did we arrive at the place where Christianity can now be defined to be about us; our lives, our retirement plans, our futures, our reputations, and our personal comforts, without even a mumbled protest from the back pew? Christianity isn’t only about what you know and who you know – as dangerous as it might sound to those paranoid about “works” – it’s also about what you do. And if you are not directing this nuclear-like deposit of God toward the rescuing of human souls and the deliverance of human lives, then, like nuclear waste, it will end up actually harming your life and corroding the world about you. For our God is all about action. He isn’t self-centric, but rather, He’s outward in His gaze. He’s all about doing the thing that needs to be done. Doesn’t it say something about that in John 3:16? God has an eye for the underdog and the underprivileged. He has one gigantic soft spot for those in need of a rescuer. God is in the business of justice, mercy, setting captives free, bringing health to the sick, clearing the debts of the poor, and breaking the shackles of slavery. God’s agenda is to seek and save that which is lost, that which is broken, that which is oppressed, orphans, and enslaved. And if God’s children don’t carry out His agenda, who will?
