How should a godly man deal with the gender confusion of our day? Well, a godly man needs to be rooted in a clear view of gender understanding in order to withstand gender confusion. First there must be an acceptance of who a godly man is and what he does, then we need to learn how to communicate with those who do not have a biblical view of gender, and finally we must wake up to the fact that there is a mission field forming in our midst. I touch on all three of these subjects in my latest blog video.

How should a godly man deal with the gender confusion of our day? First off, if we’re going to deal with the gender confusion of our day, we need to not be confused ourself. And so that is where it starts for a godly man, they need to be rooted in a clear understanding of godly masculinity.
You see, in Isaiah 3, we see a picture of the judgment of God coming upon the nation of Israel. Israel has turned its back on God. It has turned away from the truth. It has violated the laws. It has turned towards other gods and ironically, the first form of judgment in the culture wasn’t drought, wasn’t disease, wasn’t the invasion of foreign armies. It was the loss of manhood. When a culture loses manhood, it begins to fray at the edges and every other evil begins to come in. There is something about masculinity — when established firmly — that allows for femininity to thrive. When masculinity is strong, the rest of culture, in a sense gains context and gains stability.
So to deal with gender confusion, there needs to be gender understanding. And so for a man to understand that, number one, is where that begins, and that’s what a godly man does. But as a godly man, there is also a nature of Christ that is essential in dealing with the confusion of our day, which is very real and there are those out there that genuinely are confused. That’s a good word for it, in fact. They do not see straight. They do not have a north star to reason from with their compass, and as a result they’re wandering lost.
And the best thing for us to do is address them where they’re at and not just come in with criticism and judgment. That actually isn’t the grand means of gaining someone’s soul, it’s to actually begin to communicate the love and the hope of God Almighty. Sometimes that involves a clear communication in regards to the nature of God and the violation of veering away from His path.
But to recognize that there is a way in which we need to actually learn (and it’s going to be uncomfortable to do this maybe), we need to learn how to communicate with those that don’t see the same way we do. If you were going to a foreign culture and you were training as a missionary, you would actually learn that culture and you would learn their language before you go and that’s a very, very important part of every missionary sending organization.
There’s a cultural study that will go into it. In a sense, many of us in the American culture today that are seeing this gender confusion are unwilling to do any cultural study, any language training in regards to it. And it is a funny thing to know how to deal with because I’ve spent most of my life knowing how to speak to men and knowing how to be excellent in speaking with women, there’s a different way you do it.
And now we have mysterious option number three. Some of us are just like, “I am not going to learn how to do that,” and as a result, you will not reach them. And so as a result, a godly man needs to recognize that there is a mission field literally forming in our midst, and we need to be prepared to reach it. That does not mean to compromise the truth. That does not mean to diminish the reality of the fact that there are two genders. However, it does mean to recognize that there is a lost world and it’s right in front of us and it needs us as godly men to rise up and give hope and truth and love.
